How
the Dreamflight children are chosen
Dreamflight cannot offer every deserving child the chance of a holiday
to Disneyworld , so they look for children whose illnesses have made their so
difficult, so unpleasant, that they simply deserve a treat like this.
The basic criteria require that they are usually between eight and
fourteen years old and are currently, or have been serioulsy ill. Advice is
taken form the medical profession and paediatricians from all areas of the UK
are invited to propose children whom they feel will benefit from Dreamflight.
A number of factors are considered when making the selection,
including fitness for the long flight and the busy holiday. The level of
medical attention required, too, is important. Of course, most of the
children will need supervised medication or some form of treatment, but this
is a holiday, so the attention they require must not be so intrusive as to
risk spoiling all the fun.
The aim, then is to select children with a cross-section of illnesses
and conditions. Dreamflight is always over subscribed with deserving children
but many of those unlucky this year will be chosen next year. |
